The Specialty Certificate Examination (SCE) in Geriatric Medicine is a 200-question, best-of-five exam sat over two 3-hour papers. It tests whether you have the knowledge to practise safely as a consultant geriatrician. If you are a UK trainee, it is a requirement for your CCT. If you trained elsewhere, it is an internationally recognised way to show specialist knowledge.
What the exam looks like
The exam is computer-based and taken at a test centre. Each paper lasts 3 hours and has 100 questions. Every question has five options: one best answer and four plausible but less correct alternatives. There is no negative marking, so never leave a question blank.
